Six questions. Every wall.
Years in the wall decor industry. Home after home. The same six questions, every time. HangPlanner is what we built to answer all six in one place β before the first nail goes in.
Every customer asks these.
Different rooms. Different budgets. Different taste. The same six questions, in roughly the same order.
Where should it go on this wall?
How big should it be?
What style works for this room?
What frame colour matches?
How much will it all cost?
How do I hang it?
The decor industry has every answer. Just not in one place.
The information is out there. It's in Pinterest boards, designer Instagram feeds, IKEA assembly diagrams, framing-shop pamphlets, museum hanging guidelines, and a hundred different blog posts about the "57-inch rule." None of it shows up at the moment of decision β when someone is standing in their living room with a tape measure, trying to picture how a 50 Γ 70 frame would sit above the sofa.
HangPlanner is built to live at that moment. Drop in a photo of the actual wall. Set the scale with something you already own. Try sizes side by side. See the budget run live. Print a 1:1 install image. Drill through it.
One workflow, six questions answered, before any commitment.
Five capabilities that together cover all six.
A working tool, not a roadmap. Each piece below is live in the editor right now.
- Plan it
- Photograph your wall. Calibrate to real scale using a known object β your sofa, your door, an existing frame. Every item you drag in renders at true proportion.
- Style it
- Mix frame sizes, mat widths, border colours, corner radius. Real frame parameters, not abstract rectangles. What you see on screen is what arrives in the box.
- Budget it
- Every frame adds to a live Budget Details table. SKU groupings, currency, totals β tracked as you plan. Decide before checkout, not at it.
- Shop it
- Curated catalog of current IKEA SKUs with live prices and one-click links to the retailer's checkout. Custom and third-party frames welcome alongside.
- Install it
- Export a 1:1 install image. Tape it to the wall. Drill through it. Every nail position calculated to the millimetre, every distance to wall edge and floor labelled.
Your frames, your prints, your call.
HangPlanner doesn't lock you into a single frame brand, a single print service, or a single store. It has to work with IKEA KnoppΓ€ng, an Etsy custom shadow box, that vintage frame from your grandmother, and the framed canvas you already own β or it doesn't solve the real problem.
So the tool is open. The catalog leans on IKEA today because IKEA standard frames are the most widely used in the world β chances are you already have one on a wall right now. The catalog expands as more standard SKUs get added. Your own custom frames go in next to the standard ones. Your existing photo library uploads once and reuses across walls. Whatever fits your wall fits the planner.
Open by default. Opinionated where it matters β accurate millimetres, honest physics, no surprise costs.
Available in most countries. In your currency. In your measurement system.
Wall decor is universal β the questions don't change by passport. HangPlanner is available across most countries worldwide, with localised pricing, regional measurement units (cm or inch), and language coverage for the largest decor markets. New countries get added as demand reaches them.
The architecture is built for the long haul: Stripe-secured payments, automatic cloud sync across devices, and a free Demo wall every visitor can try without signing up.
